Your travel risk assessment is free — you only pay for the vaccines you choose to have. Prices are per dose unless the note says otherwise, and vaccines that need a course of doses are priced per dose too.

Vaccines are prescription-only medicines. Which ones are right for you is decided at your appointment, after the pharmacist reviews your destinations, your plans and your health.

Microsuction with a pharmacist who looks in your ear first and explains what they can see. If microsuction isn't suitable for you, they'll say so and talk you through what to do next.

The pharmacist will usually check both ears even if you book for one. Microsuction isn't suitable for everyone — for example with a perforated ear drum, an ear infection or recent ear surgery.

For adults who have been assessed as needing vitamin B12. Your pharmacist checks whether an injection is appropriate for you before anything is given — and a blood test can be arranged first if you're not sure.

What you're paying for

What's included, what isn't, and how paying works

Every appointment at Burntwood Clinic includes time with a pharmacist, not just the treatment itself. Here's what that covers — and the things that sit outside it.

Included in the price

  • Time with a pharmacist who listens, asks about your health and explains your options
  • The examination, test or treatment itself, when it's suitable for you
  • Aftercare advice before you leave, and what to do if something doesn't settle
  • A record of what you've had — including a vaccination record card for travel vaccines
  • Your results reviewed and explained in plain English for blood tests
  • Honest signposting to your GP or NHS services when that's the better route for you

Not included

  • Anything we refer you elsewhere for — for example yellow fever vaccination, which is only given at designated centres
  • Vaccines or tests you decide not to have after your consultation
  • The remaining doses of a course — each dose is priced separately, so a full course costs more than the single-dose price
  • NHS prescriptions and NHS services, which are separate from the private clinic

How paying works

  1. You're quoted before anything startsAt your appointment the pharmacist tells you what's recommended, what each part costs and what it includes. Nothing goes ahead until you say yes.
  2. You choose what you actually wantYou can take some of what's suggested, all of it or none of it. Declining something doesn't change the price of the rest.
  3. You pay for what you’ve agreedPayment is taken at the pharmacy. If you’re having a course of doses, ask the pharmacist how payment works for the whole course before you start.

Questions about cost

Paying for private care, answered plainly.

Not sure what something will cost? Call the clinic on 01543 682921 and a pharmacist will talk it through before you book.

  • Some of it, some of the time. Your GP surgery can usually give a few travel vaccines on the NHS — typically hepatitis A, typhoid, cholera and tetanus/diphtheria/polio — while the rest are private wherever you have them. Many NHS practices no longer offer ear wax removal at all, and private blood tests, weight management appointments and men's health checks sit outside NHS services. If something is available to you free on the NHS, we'll tell you rather than sell it to you.

  • You're told the price at your appointment and nothing goes ahead until you've agreed to it. Payment is taken at the pharmacy. [CLIENT TO CONFIRM: which payment methods are accepted, and whether payment is taken before or after the appointment]

  • They'll explain why, tell you what to do instead, and you won't be charged for a treatment that doesn't go ahead.   • It's the price for that item. Where a vaccine needs a course of doses, the price shown is per dose, so a full course costs more than one dose — the pharmacist will add it up for you at your appointment so you know the total before you start.   • For travel vaccinations we see families, work trips, student groups and other parties, and group rates are available — contact us for a quote rather than assuming a figure.
