This page explains what cookies are, the categories of cookie this website uses and why, and how to control them. We have deliberately not published a list of individual cookie names until the analytics and booking tools in use have been confirmed — an inaccurate cookie list is worse than none.
01What cookies are#
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels and tags — do much the same job. They let a site remember something between pages or between visits, and they can also be used to measure how a site is used.
Cookies set by this website are 'first party'. Cookies set by another company whose content appears on a page — a map or a booking tool, for example — are 'third party'.
02The cookies this website uses#
Strictly necessary cookies
These are needed for the website to work. They do things like keep the site secure, balance traffic across servers, and remember the cookie choice you have made so that we do not ask you again on every page. They do not track you for advertising and they cannot be switched off from within the site.
Analytics and performance cookies
These help us understand how people use the site — which pages are read, which links are used, and where people leave — so that we can improve it. They are only set if you agree to them.

Embedded content from other companies

Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically because the site cannot work without them. Anything else — analytics, and non-essential embedded content — is only set where you have given consent, and you can change your mind at any time.

04How to control cookies in your browser#
You can block or delete cookies yourself in your browser settings. The wording differs slightly between versions, but the route is usually:
- Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies, and Settings › Privacy and security › Delete browsing data.
- Safari on Mac — Safari › Settings › Privacy. On iPhone or iPad — Settings › Apps › Safari › Advanced › Block All Cookies, or Clear History and Website Data.
- Microsoft Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies and site data.
- Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data.
- Android Chrome — the three-dot menu › Settings › Site settings › Cookies.
Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which clears cookies when you close it.
If you block all cookies, parts of this site may stop working — the map and the booking tool are the most likely to be affected. You can always book by calling 01543 682921 instead.
