Yellow Fever vaccine

About this vaccine

Who needs it — Yellow Fever

Yellow fever is spread by mosquitoes in parts of sub-Saharan Africa and South America. Many countries also require an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) on entry, either because there is a risk in the country or because you are arriving from one.

Referral only at Burntwood

Burntwood Clinic is not a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre, so we cannot give the yellow fever vaccine or issue an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP). If your trip needs it, we will point you to your nearest designated centre — Touchwood Pharmacy, Greenhill Health Centre, Lichfield WS13 6JL — and still cover every other vaccine you need here in Burntwood. (Register checked 17 September 2026.)

Only centres on the NaTHNaC register may give this vaccine and issue the certificate. You can check the register yourself at nathnacyfzone.org.uk.

Book a travel consultation with us and we will tell you whether your trip needs it, refer you for that one vaccine, and give you everything else you need in the same appointment.

Schedule and boosters

Schedule

One dose, at least 10 days before travel for the certificate to be valid.

Boosters

A single dose gives lifelong cover for most people.

What to expect

Because we do not give this vaccine, the designated centre will go through its effects and suitability with you in full.

Yellow fever vaccine is not suitable for everyone — including some people who are pregnant, have a weakened immune system, are allergic to eggs, or are over 60 and having it for the first time. That assessment is done by the designated centre.

Report a suspected side effect to the MHRA Yellow Card scheme at yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk.
